About Uncut Japan
Hey, I’m Still.
I became completely obsessed with Japan — the culture, the food, the anime, the way life just works differently there. While most people were figuring out what Netflix show to binge next, I was deep in rabbit holes about ramen shops in Tokyo, hidden shrines in Kyoto, and why Japanese convenience stores somehow make every other country’s food scene feel embarrassing.
I’m not living in Japan yet. That’s the honest truth. I’m working toward it. So Uncut Japan isn’t a blog written by someone sitting in a Tokyo apartment looking down at tourists. It’s written by someone who genuinely loves this country and is working their way in.
What this blog actually is:
Most Japan content online falls into two categories — either surface level tourist guides written by people who spent two weeks in Tokyo, or overly polished expat lifestyle content that makes Japan look like a perfect dream. Neither is honest.
Uncut Japan is different. We cover Japan the way it actually is — the incredible parts, the weird parts, the parts that will shock you, and the parts that will make you fall in love with it. No filters. No tourist clichés. Just real stories, real food, and real culture.
What you’ll find here:
Honest food guides that go beyond sushi and ramen. Deep dives into Japanese culture that actually explain the why behind the what. Hidden places most travel blogs don’t bother writing about. And a perspective from someone who sees Japan with fresh eyes — not as a local who takes it for granted, but as someone who genuinely can’t stop being fascinated by it.
The goal:
To show you the real Japan. The one beyond the guidebooks.
If you love food, anime, culture, or you’re thinking about visiting or moving to Japan — you’re in the right place.
Welcome to Uncut Japan.
